VEEPEEE Invests in Second Kongsberg Cutting Table to Maximize Platemaking Productivity

Veepee Graphic Solutions, a prominent Indian trade shop known for its expertise in prepress and flexo platemaking, has recently enhanced its operational capabilities by installing a second Kongsberg X20 cutting table at its Bangalore facility. This strategic addition aims to escalate production speed, minimize waste, and maximize overall productivity, thereby reinforcing Veepee’s commitment to providing superior service to its clients in the corrugated converters industry.

The acquisition of this second cutting table, a decision influenced by the impressive performance of the first Kongsberg X20 purchased in 2018, marks a significant step in Veepee's ongoing efforts to advance its technological capacity. The Kongsberg X20 is celebrated for its precision and versatility, particularly with the specialist Flexo application kit that streamlines the production process. This kit not only facilitates the automated cutting of flexo plates and patches but is also designed to work seamlessly with the flexo imaging device, both physically and digitally.

Jaichandra, Managing Director of Veepee, highlighted the substantial impact of the Kongsberg technology on their operations. "The advanced capabilities of the Kongsberg X20 have enabled us to eliminate the errors commonly associated with manual plate cutting," he noted. The precision of the Kongsberg table allows for a bevel cut on thicker plates, which has significantly reduced print-related waste for their corrugated customers. Moreover, the faster and more accurate staggered finishing capabilities of the machine have reduced what was once a forty-five-minute manual task to a mere three-to-five-minute operation. This enhancement not only improves print quality but also reduces press bounce, allowing for higher operational speeds and less wastage.

The integration of the Kongsberg X20 into Veepee's workflow exemplifies a perfect match of technology with digital flexo software, promoting a 'No Muda' or no waste system. The iPC software, specialized tooling options, and an effective vacuum pump are all tailored to meet the high demands of plate cutting in the flexographic and labels sector.

Rafiq Shaikh, Sales and Service Leader for Kongsberg PCS, expressed satisfaction with the integration, stating, "The success of the first Kongsberg table inspired Veepee to invest in a second unit." This new addition is set to accelerate Veepee’s production processes without compromising on quality, addressing the specific challenges of finishing plates for use in corrugated post-print applications.

For nearly three decades, Veepee Graphic Solutions has been at the forefront of adopting cutting-edge technologies to enhance its service offerings across India and Sri Lanka. With facilities strategically located across five different regions, Veepee has built a solid reputation for delivering top-notch flexo plates, excellent service levels, and robust quality assurance. The latest investment not only promises to boost throughput for their labels and flexographic customers but also enables the provision of plates to corrugated converters at more competitive prices.

Furthermore, the technological advancements brought by the Kongsberg X20 have streamlined the production of die lines and plate mounting, significantly saving time and reducing the labor-intensive tasks of manual cutting and mounting. Plates are now easier to handle and mount, and the risk of tearing during de-mounting is markedly reduced, making them suitable for reuse.

Concluding his remarks, Mr. Jaichandra emphasized, "While we have always been impressed by the quality of Kongsberg technology, the prompt service response and the expertise of the engineers are equally important to us." This combination of advanced technology, efficient service, and expert support continues to position Veepee Graphic Solutions as a leader in the highly competitive prepress and flexo platemaking market.
